What is the scheme for?
The Proud of Rotherham small grant scheme benefits local people and increases pride in our streets, neighbourhoods and our Town.
Grants are available for up to £1,000. They can be for capital or revenue expenditure, for example a capital project could be buying a composter for an allotment or a revenue project could be to fund a youth worker for a summer play scheme.
Who is eligible to apply?
The scheme is for projects based in Proud of Rotherham eligible wards, which are:
- Boston Castle: Town Centre, Canklow, Templeborough, Broom Valley, Clifton and parts of Moorgate.
- Sitwell: Deepdale, Broom and small part of Whiston.
- Rotherham East: Eastwood, East Dene, Clifton and Herringthorpe.
- Dalton and Thrybergh: East Herringthorpe.
- Rotherham West: Ferham, Holmes, Masbrough, Thornhill, Henley, Bradgate, Blackburn, Richmond Park and part of Kimberworth.
- Keppel: Scholes Kimberworth and Kimberworth Park
- Rawmarsh: Only Aldwalk
Applicants and project beneficiaries must live in these areas too.
How do I apply?
The application process is simple. The first round of small grant applications is open between 1 October and closes on 31 October 2026 and will distribute £100,000 in one off grants.
Successful grants must be spent on approved projects within six months of receiving the funds.
The scheme will open more funding rounds in the future, so don’t worry if your project is not ready. There will be more chances to apply.

Decisions will be made by the Proud of Rotherham Board (the Board). The Board is made up of a range of people from the area with a broad range of skills and life experiences. More information on the Board can be found here.
Criteria for approval
Funding is only available for projects that will be delivered within the Proud of Rotherham area by people who are residents in the area, for the people in the area. Check your project is in the eligible area.
Applications must be made by two people, aged over 18 and who are able to prove residence in the eligible area with two documents, for example; being on the electoral role, utility bills or bank details at the address. Please note the first name and local area of the two applicants will be listed on the Proud of Rotherham website for accountability.
The selected projects will aim to be fairly distributed throughout the whole area and must prove that they can be delivered within six months of receiving the grant.

Successful applicants must agree to post a minimum of three social media updates detailing their project at the time of the award, once the project starts and once the project ends. This information must also be supplied to the Board for inclusion on the scheme’s website and social media posts must tag the Proud of Rotherham Facebook page.
Each shortlisted project will receive a visit from the scheme before the grant is made.
Where relevant, successful applicants will need to evidence that they have the necessary permissions, insurance and health and safety protections in place to enable the project to be delivered in a safe and timely manner. Proud of Rotherham accepts no liability or responsibility for the projects at any point.
What will not be funded?
Something that Rotherham Council, or another statutory organisation, like a school or the NHS should be providing, for example; filling potholes, providing school breakfast clubs.
Projects that happen outside of the area, or that principally benefit people outside of the area.
